10,000,000 signatures for Palawan

Palawan is a narrow archipelago located at the Western border of the Philippines (MIMAROPA region).  It is known as the largest province in the country if you would consider the area of jurisdiction.

The island is surrounded by the Sulu Sea and South China Sea. Therefore, this province is rich in aquatic resources. The island is known for its white sand beaches and clear seawaters that is good for diving spots and snorkeling. It is also known for its numerous bays and coves.

Here are some notable tourist destinations that we can find in Palawan:
Ursula Island
Calauit Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary

Malampaya Sound Land and Seascape Protected Area
El Nido Marine Reserve Park

Coron Reefs, Coron Bay, Busuanga

Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Tubbataha Reef Marine Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

What does it cost to mine Palawan for its mineral deposits? The Philippine government, Chamber of Mines and large scale mining companies claim that mining is the solution to poverty, mouthing responsible mining in the name of economic progress. but what is true wealth? and what is the price Palawan paying for billions of pesos expected earnings from mining for export? Palawan’s katutubos, farmers and concerned citizens voice their anguish, indignation and stories for us and the rest of world to hear.

I just signed in the petition of the Save Palawan Movement!
I hope this petition can end these mining activities in Palawan. The campaign badly needs 10,000,000 (yes, ten million) signatures in order to deliver a message and to  persuade the Palawan Government to stop these mining activities in Palawan.

I hope you'll sign this petition!
